Some California towns are experiencing fast moving supply and rising demand when it comes to the housing market, according to a popular real estate site. Realtor.com has named 19 California towns among the “hottest real estate markets” in 2024, based on data from the most comprehensive data on active inventory and demand. The rankings were based on fast moving supply and rising demand in California. The site's analysis also included analysis of demand and supply dynamics to rank metro areas, counties, and zip codes relative to the rest of the country. Manchester-Nashua, N.H., Rochester, NY., and Springfield, MA were also listed. The ‘hottest housing market’ in the U.S. is currently being held by Manchester-Newark-Jersey City.

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Some California towns are experiencing fast moving supply and rising demand when it comes to the housing market, according to a popular real estate site.
In fact, 19 Golden State towns made Realtor.com’s list for “hottest real estate markets” in 2024.
The rankings are based on “proprietary insights on buyer activity and the most comprehensive data on active inventory,” the site explained. The analysis also “breaks down demand and supply dynamics to rank metro areas, counties and zip codes relative to the rest of the country.”
To explain the methodology further, Realtor.com examines listing views by markets as an indicator of demand and median days on market as an indicator of supply. A total of 300 cities were listed.

With that being said, here’s a breakdown of the California cities that are considered among the “hottest housing markets” in the country as of March 2024, based on this analysis:
— Ranked No. 41: Modesto (tied with Cincinnati, OH.)
— Ranked No. 114: San Luis Obispo-Paso Robles-Arroyo Grande metro (tied with Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson, IN. metro)
— Ranked No. 212: Chico (tied with New York-Newark-Jersey City, NY. metro)
The “hottest housing market” in the U.S., according to Realtor.com’s index, is Manchester-Nashua, N.H., followed by Rochester, N.Y. and then Springfield, MA.
