San Diego Zoo's Tiny Baby Sloth Is Glued to Mom's Side and Won't Be Letting Go Anytime Soon
This tiny baby isn't letting go of Mom. The San Diego Zoo has introduced its newest Linnaeus's two-toed sloth pup, named Xena, in honor of International Sloth Day. The baby was born on August 16 and will likely stay close to mom for months, according to the zoo. Sloth pups instinctively cling to their mothers' fur for about the first six months of their lives. The zoo has not yet revealed the baby's sex, but there are still some details about its arrival. The San Diego zoo also works to protect sloth habitats in tropical and cloud forests through its Amazonia Conservation Hub.
