Water/Environment - Pure Water Pipeline - Morena Conveyance South and Middle Pipeline Project
Built as part of San Diego’s Pure Water program, two segments now carry a 48-in. wastewater force main pipeline and 30-in. welded steel pipe brine centrate/conveyance pipeline toward the city’s water treatment plants. The San Diego Pure Water Pipeline and Morena Conveyance South and Middle Pipeline Project was part of the city's Pure Water program. The project involved placing 13.6 miles of pipe along a seven-mile alignment under active San Diego streets and placing trenches 14–20 ft deep below the water table through corridors packed with existing water, sewer, electrical and communication lines. The team logged every find with GPS rovers, building a digital utility database using colored cones as a reminder. Once the work is completed, the area was covered and returned to the public the following day. There were no utility strikes across the seven miles of trenches.
