17 Retailers Closed Hundreds Of CA Stores In 2025: See The List
When it comes to the retail business, 2025 was a tough year. Coresight Research has predicted that by 2025, 15,000 stores across the country will close, nearly double the previous year's total. In California, this includes Zara's massive store in the San Francisco Centre mall, which closed in June. Advance Auto Parts planned to close over 700 stores and four distribution centers in California. Home furniture and decor retailer At Home shuttered most of its California stores by the end of September as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Meanwhile, Dick's Sporting Goods purchased Foot Locker in a $2.5 billion deal and plans to close an undisclosed number of Foot Lognes stores. Other retailers including Macy's and Kohl's also reduced their footprints.
